Our Statewide Student Day of Poetry has been broke up into five regional events for 2015. You are now perusing the LOWELL event!

On Thursday, December 10, Mass Poetry’s Student Day of Poetry is taking over UMass Lowell! SDOP features a morning poetry sampler, writing-generative workshops, performances, readings, and a student open mic. We’ve got something for everyone, from the student who isn’t even sure they like poetry to the senior leading the after-school poetry club.

In this workshop, we'll explore works of poetry that focus on present day speech and references. From current events to pop culture to techno babble, we'll explore poems that are rooted in the here and now. We'll also have a small in class exercise, so we can write and share some poems of our own!
