Our Statewide Student Day of Poetry has been broke up into five regional events for 2015. You are now perusing the LOWELL event!

On Thursday, December 10, Mass Poetry’s Student Day of Poetry is taking over UMass Lowell! SDOP features a morning poetry sampler, writing-generative workshops, performances, readings, and a student open mic. We’ve got something for everyone, from the student who isn’t even sure they like poetry to the senior leading the after-school poetry club.

Learning from Emerging Writers

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

A really cool opportunity to work with promising young writers from UMass Lowell’s creative writing concentration. Two talented college-aged writers will each guide students through a poetry-writing exercise after having discussed a few exemplary poems. Exercises will focus on some particular aspect of poetry—metaphor, collage, repetition, or voice, for example. Students will have the opportunity to share the work they produce, and to ask questions about what it’s like to be a writer in college.
